A major goal of the program is to educate researchers, clinicians, and students about the many aspects involved in commercializing biomedical innovation.

Now in its sixth year, BiomedX has received over 140 applications and funded 43 teams for $4.2M cumulatively. Of those 43 teams, 14 have licensed to startups or industry and have generated $19M in follow-on funding.
This year 18 teams were selected to participate in the BiomedX bootcamp focused on commercializing medical technologies. The course included 34 principal investigators (engineering, life sciences, clinical) and 23 graduate students (engineering, MBA, MD, DMD) enrolled for credit and embedded on the project teams. A subset of teams participating in the course were selected to pitch their envisioned technologies and business opportunities for potential commercialization support through the BiomedX program on April 24th.
