Xylyx Bio: 3D tissue-specific biomaterials for stem cell research and therapeutic applications
Unmet Medical Need: Stem cells, studied outside the body under "cell culture" conditions, can be used to treat common life-threatening ailments. However, researchers lack a cell culture platform that recreates the stem cells' natural environment necessary for the growth and differentiation of the cells.
Envisioned Healthcare Product: Xylyx Bio products include 50+ tissue specific biomaterials derived from natural organ/tissue sources to provide stem cells their native tissue environment. Envisioned clinical applications include an injectable cell-free orthobiologic hydrogel loaded with soluble factors secreted by mesenchymal stem cells, helping to avoid costly and painful surgeries.
